Journal Publishing Editor (Mathematics), Global Book and Periodical Academic Publisher
Our client is a global academic publisher of academic books and Journals. We are recruiting on their behalf for a Journals Publishing Editor specialising in Mathematics to join the Journals team. The role involves driving forward journals growth targets by participating in the development, commissioning and product development plans.
Duties of the role include:
- Develop new STEM-related research journals, through acquisition or new launches, with emphasis on Open Access publication
- Management of existing portfolio journals to continuously improve and maintain market relevance
- Identify high-value topics for Special Issues and commission qualified guest editors to organize paper-invitations/call-for-papers to agreed publication timelines
- Maintain continuous quality control, monitoring all aspects of day-to-day editorial; production and publishing operations; actively address improvements where required
- Meet portfolio related objectives with regard to content growth, articles market share, citation, relative impact factor, editorial speeds and author’s/editor’s satisfaction
- Develop and maintain positive collaborative relationships with existing/potential authors, Editorial Board members and referees.
- Monitor demands of market forces to advise on future trends, risks and opportunities
Skills required:
- Ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously amid tight deadlines
- Prior experience in STEM publishing
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build, nurture and manage editorial boards
