MNG Hires Former Group Sales Director of Simon & Schuster

Mare Nostrum Group is delighted to welcome Gill Richardson as the new Head of Sales.

After studying International Politics and Russian at the University of Birmingham, Gill moved to Italy where she started her career teaching English in local language schools, before launching and running a successful business offering language training to senior managers in companies across Milan.

Moving back to the UK 12 years later, Gill embarked on a long and illustrious career at Simon & Schuster UK, initially as a sales rep and later as Head of Sales, direct-selling to a range of trade accounts including national retailers, independents, and wholesalers across Northern England. Career progression lead to a position as Key Account Director, managing a regional sales team, and selling titles to large multi-national retailers, before she was eventually promoted to Group Sales Director and given a position on the board.

In her positions as UK and Group Sales Director at Simon & Schuster UK, Gill built a wealth of experience in the UK and internationally, working closely with client publishing teams to help create bestsellers, deliver sustained growth, and build customer relationships.

Gill joins the Mare Nostrum Group as Head of Sales in a period of growth for the business, and will help to put in place the strong foundations needed, as we continue to improve our services and onboard new clients. Gill’s expertise and judgement, developed during her notable career, will bring a fresh perspective to the Mare Nostrum Group. In her new role, created as part of a company-wide restructure, Gill will have overall responsibility for all territory sales and will manage a highly-skilled and experienced print and digital sales team.
