The Mare Nostrum Group are recruiting for a Distribution Services Manager. Reporting to the Head of Distribution Services and managing a team of 4 (all based in London) you will be the key point of contact in Distribution Services based in our headquarters in Harrogate.

Playing a significant role in maintaining product availability, controlling shipping costs and preventing and managing overstocks of our books, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of supply chain management for our business.

Using strong communication skills and keen analytical knowledge you will work closely with our suppliers, fulfilment centre, sales and marketing teams, and client partners, to source the right amount of our books in time and as cost effectively and efficiently as possible.

Ideally, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role. This is a great opportunity to establish yourself in a dynamic and international business setting.

Duties of the role include:

  • Stock control & management: reporting to, & working closely with, the Head of Distribution Services, to ensure stock availability, monitor stock levels, & prevent overstocks
  • Supply management: predicting initial orders for new products through to placing restocking orders based upon historic sales data & marketing activities
  • Order management: receiving sales data from our fulfilment centre, fulfilling restocking requests from partners & wholesalers, managing the supply chain by sourcing from clients’ warehouses & 3rd party producers
  • Working closely with the UK warehouse team, building & maintaining excellent relationships
  • Liaising with teams throughout the business as required including marketing & sales
  • Implementing process efficiencies to achieve time & cost savings
  • Review supplier manuals to understand procedures, ensuring the relevant teams get key information needed
  • Trouble shooting & problem solving supply chain & operational issues

Skills required:

  • Experience working with global import markets
  • Experience coordinating international air & sea freight deliveries, & European road freight, into & out of the UK
  • Background working within a growing SME environment where flexibility & a hands-on approach is key
  • Highly analytical & numeric, with high attention to detail
  • A skilled multi-tasker, with excellent organisational skills who thrives in a fast-paced role & can prioritise workloads
  • Excellent communicator & relationship builder at all levels, both internally & externally
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel skills
